An afternoon with Martha Raoli - Discussion and Table read of her new play Enter Wave
EXILE is proud to present an afternoon with Martha Raoli discussing and doing a table read of her new play Enter Wave. This event is free and open to the public and books will be available for purchase the night of the event!
About the Book:ENTER WAVE is a comedic play set on the shores of Ditch Plains, where surfers, kooks and cultists engage in a lively Socratic dialogue about ecstasy and romance. The exercise cult of Stokinetics practices partnered exercises that simulate the orgasmic bliss of the stoke — free from the trappings of love, the mechanics of sex, and the discipline of surfing. Their occupation of this small American beach town threatens to unravel a social ecosystem organized by the ethics of surf culture. When a Manhattan socialite enters the program, what follows is a meditation on the politics of the female body as a site of pleasure.
About the Author:Martha Raoli is a creator working across disciplines through an exploration of the somatic gestures in art production. She has performed with a typewriter and theremin in venues such as the Adrienne Arsht Center, The PAMM, and Yále Social Club. Her writing on art has appeared in the Miami Rail and the Brooklyn Rail. She has an M.F.A. from Brown University. Enter Wave is her first book. She is the founder of Tertulia Press.
Free and open to the public.
