WEIRD MIAMI Anthology by Bas Fisher Invitational

Weird Miami Anthology, published by EXILE Books in collaboration with Bas Fisher Invitational (BFI), brings together a series of self-guided tours created by local artists that reveal the city’s hidden corners and eccentric character. Each tour illuminates unexpected sites across Miami, offering perspectives on why the city is at once wild, weird, and wonderful—while also raising critical questions about its ongoing transformation and future.

Originally conceived during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, the project adapted BFI’s classic Weird Miami program into a format that could be experienced by individuals and quarantine crews. These tours encouraged exploration of Miami’s layered landscape—from encounters with other species to public artworks and overlooked landmarks—while maintaining the necessary distance of the time. The resulting anthology serves as both a time capsule and a living guide to a city in flux, featuring contributions from A.S.T., Audrey Gair & Marines Montalvo, Carlos Betancourt, Coral Morphologic, Fereshteh Toosi, Hattie Mae Williams, Hayden Dunham & Katerina Llanes, Jenna Balfe, Jessie Gold, Loni Johnson, Monica Uszerowicz & Nicole Salcedo, misael soto, and Orlando Estrada.
