Good Immigrants Crowdfunding on WeMakeIt!
Good Immigrants is an experimental short fiction by writer Mariana Villas-Boas.
Set in Zurich but resonating far beyond, the story traces the quiet complexities of female immigration — how identity, belonging, and displacement intersect in subtle and sometimes uncomfortable ways.
Inspired in part by a 2022 exhibition by artist Kapwani Kiwanga, the work invites readers to reflect on the invisible borders we navigate and the social dynamics that define who is “allowed” to belong.
We’ve just launched a fundraising campaign on We Make It to bring this important project to life — timely, independent work that sparks dialogue about migration, identity, and community across borders.
