Our Stories
by the Miami Lighthouse for the BlindIn an effort to promote and preserve the diverse voices of our city, EXILE Books is pleased to collaborate with Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired to bring you OUR STORIES, an original zine featuring new work by the Lighthouse’s artists. Led by program director Nelba Gonzalez, OUR STORIES was produced in a workshop where members of the Lighthouse community were encouraged to tell their own story through the creation of three-dimensional tactile reliefs. This new series was compiled into a collective zine and donated to the HistoryMiami Museum along with a blindfold, inviting audiences to experience these unique works just as they were made. This accompanying zine recorded their personal stories that they conveyed in their works, so they could share with their family and friends.
