EXILE launched the Miami Zine Fair, which took place from April 2015 to 2023 to coordinate with O, Miami poetry month. This event brings together over 150+ artists, writers, illustrators, activists, and poets under one roof. It features performances, site-specific artworks, presentations, workshops, live DJs, podcasts, and radio broadcasts. MZF highlights the wide array of makers embracing self-publishing in our city, drawing in people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Visitors discover participatory installations, multimedia activations, and hundreds of independently published works on display by local and international artists. From the simple to the saddle-stitched, the public is invited to touch, feel, peruse, and even smell.
In 2021, we produced the first-ever Miami Art Book Fair in partnership with NYC-based Printed Matter to organize a presentation of artist book publishers at the 19th edition of NADA Miami at Ice Palace Studios from November 30–December 4, 2021, during Miami Art Week. This exciting collaboration hosted exhibitors from all over the world featuring new work as well as historical and rare publications, accessible and DIY approaches to bookmaking, and subject matter that engages with varied critical perspectives. The onsite presentation was accompanied by a digital platform featuring a schedule of free online programs and exhibitor and publication highlights.
